Eastern Cinema Guide

Write for us

Eastern Cinema Guide welcomes considered pitches about East Asian cinema that give readers a fresh way to watch, compare or understand films. Send proposals through the Contact page, with enough detail for us to judge the idea and its scope.

What we welcome

Pitch clear, original pieces about story, visual style, genre, screen traditions, film history or attentive viewing. Strong proposals focus on a defined question, explain why it matters to a general reader and offer a distinct angle rather than a broad survey. Comparative ideas should identify what is being compared and avoid treating different traditions as interchangeable.

What to include

Use the Contact page to send a working title, a short summary of the central idea, the films or traditions you would discuss and a few lines about your approach. Mention any relevant sources or access needs, and disclose interests that could affect how readers understand the piece. A full draft is not needed for an initial proposal.

Before you send

We favour specific, well-supported writing that distinguishes fact from interpretation and gives readers something to notice for themselves. Do not submit work that presents speculation as fact or relies on confidential material. Sending a pitch does not guarantee publication; use the Contact page for all proposals and follow-up.
